Rarely ever would a European Final been played between two teams that are sitting so low in the table of a Top Five league. Tottenham Hotspur had a difficult season and sit in 17th in the Premier League, with Manchester United just one spot above in 16th. Relegation may never have been a thing for them, thanks to some clearly weaker teams in the bottom three however.

Tottenham earned their qualification to the final with two wins over the surprise from Norway, Bodø/Glimt. After winning the home leg 3-1, they beat the rank outsiders from Norway 2-0 away in Bodø. Manchester United played away first up in the semifinals, beating Athletic Bilbao 3-0 at San Mamés and 4-1 back home at Old Trafford.

Air Travel from England to Spain for the final will be directed to several airports in the North of Spain. Apart from the obvious flights to Bilbao, there will also be lots of charter flights going to Santander and Vitoria. Not listed are extra flights by British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair (EI and UK) or Vueling.
